FIELD: hydroacoustics. SUBSTANCE: method involves emitting tested space by set of tone- modulated signals which carrier and modulation frequencies are selected in accordance to appreciated sizes of objects, their position about water surface and their speed. Received signal is filtered according to object which was measured, each channel is detected and presence, size and speed characteristics of object are judged by reduction of corresponding constituents. Described device has emitter, power amplifier, setting oscillator, modulator, unit of carrier frequency set, unit of modulation frequency set, receiving antenna, amplifier, multichannel band-pass filter, low-channel detector, indicator. EFFECT: increased efficiency of detection of underwater objects by matching parameters of sounding signal with structural peculiarities which were emerged in water after object passing and which are detected by strong reduction of sounding signal when it spreads through place with objects. 2 cl, 1 dwg
