FIELD: hydro acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydro acoustics and can be used to identify stationary and mobile complicated-shape underwater targets, e.g. sea bed objects, divers etc. Proposed method comprises sending range-HR-probing pulse, isolating one or several reflected signals, whichever their level exceeds the 1st threshold within the limits of time gate commensurable with the duration of signal reflected from target. Aforesaid signals are written into memory. Before next signal radiation cycle, each of written signals is read off in reverse order, that is, counts corresponding to preset pulse edge are read off first. These signals are re-radiated in the same direction and with a certain interval. Reflected signals are received and consistently filtered. Envelopes of reflected signals are isolated to memorise average level of every aforesaid envelope at the section of a certain duration to identify the target that corresponds to re-radiated signal which brought about reflected signal. The latter has its envelope maximum exceeding average level by preset 2nd threshold magnitude. In using short probing pulse, reflected signal envelopes are isolated after reception and isolation of one or several reflected signals. Pulse trains are formed from envelopes maxima, for examples rectangular pulses, after written are read off from the memory. Before re-radiation of signals, pulse trains that carry oscillations modulate the latter.
EFFECT: higher noise immunity.
