PROCESS OF MAGNETIC-TAPE TESTING OF WELDS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: testing. SUBSTANCE: process of magnetic-tape testing of welds consists in laying of magnetic tape on weld, in its magnetization together with article with the aid of magnetic field directed perpendicular to weld. Its value is selected equal to field of saturation of tape. Tangential component of recording field is read from tape taken off weld by line-by-line scanning of tape in direction transverse to length of weld. Theoretical field is reconstructed by values of field at characteristic points for each line of scanning. Value of reconstructed field is subtracted from read one for each line of scanning. Difference signal is used as informative signal. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity of test through suppression of signal of bead of weld. 5 dwg
