FIELD: production of compact semi-finished products from powder materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing a mixture of powders; briquetting the mixture to obtain density equal to 0.7-0.8 of theoretical density; conducting degassing; providing additional hot compaction in container having like diameter and hot upsetting of pressing in container with inner diameter exceeding dia meter of upset billet by 1.1-1.3 times. Weight of charge subjected to processing is G= Πkρd3/4. Additional compaction is conducted till theoretical density is reached by subjecting the charge to reduction of H/h= 1.25-1.43. Specific reduction values are determined by ratio of H/h=1/θ. Pressing obtained after additional compaction has sizes of k= 1.0-2.0, where k= h/d, where h and d are height and diameter of pressing after additional compaction; r is theoretical density of material; q is relative density of briquette; H is its height. EFFECT: wider operational capabilities by increased section of final billet and compactness of semifinished products obtained from powdered composite materials. 4 tbl
