FIELD: instrumentation engineering. SUBSTANCE: method for determining the concentration of electrolyte contained in a ladder-type cell of the driving oscillator of a high-frequency generator involves steps of varying the frequency at regular intervals, calculating electrolyte parameters from changed frequencies, varying geometry of the cell by interposing in the driving oscillator circuit in series pairs of electrodes of known geometry in different combinations, calculating the ratio between the frequency change and the current frequency, determining from the frequency characteristic of the minimum ratio the required concentration of electrolyte. The device for determining the concentration of electrolyte has a ladder-type cell, a high-frequency generator, a bidirectional multiplexer and a microprocessor. Outputs of the microprocessor are connected to address inputs of the multiplexer, and its input is connected to a first output of the high-frequency generator of which the driving oscillator circuit is connected to input-output of the bidirectional multiplexer of which data inputs-outputs are connected to terminals of the ladder-type cell.
