FIELD: timber storage. SUBSTANCE: gates of logging boom are provided with water discharge arrangement having head section 5 that includes intermediate and end sections 6 and 7, the latter being connected by links 13 to distributor 14 associated through cables 16 and 19 with hoist 15. Timber being rafted occupies water areas between boom, shores, and water discharge arrangement to engage with baffles 12 and distributors 14. Boom wad 24 is formed by successively extending intermediate and end sections 6 and 7 from the head section. When removing the wad 24, timber is conveyed through spaces over or under links 13 by alternately displacing end and intermediate sections 7 and 6 in the direction toward transit of the boom, and through side gates 11 of head section 5 to corridor 8. EFFECT: capacity to form wad of reduced and more uniform thickness, reduction in time required for wad removal. 2 cl, 5 dwg
