FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: by mass mining of coal seams by means of mining shields with filling the mined-out space below the air heading, an insulating rest strip is erected above the shield. The insulating rest strip is provided with windows designed to supply filling material into the mined-out by the shield space. The air heading arched metal roofing is reinforced with anchors. The railway track is laid on timber spans mounted on beams laid on the heading ground across the strike. The timber spans are laid as separate islands resting on a rest strip choke. After the shield pillar is mined-out, the insulating rest strip windows are filled with a plastic sealing material. The insulating rest strip is formed by erecting a contour of protecting suspension support which is filled by filling materials. By mining the breakage area, the shrinkage of the filling material laid in the mined-out area is controlled and the filling material is refilled, if such a need arise, through the corresponding windows. EFFECT: improved mining technique. 9 dwg
