FIELD: underground construction. SUBSTANCE: sinking structure comprises a shaft complete with cutter section and outer shell made of rigid panels mounted on an external projection of the cutter section. The panels are mounted between guides for vertical motion between them. The guides are made as H-beams secured on the external surface of the shaft. There are threaded holes made in the external flanges of the guides, said holes designed to bolt panel motion locks and limiters. The locks and limiters have the form of dies having holes corresponding to the fixing bolts. A stop member is made in the form of an angle mounted by one of its sides into a panel and installed for vertical sliding of its another inner side over the external plane of a guide. Antifriction coatings are applied on the inner surface of the panels and the external surface of the shaft. The shaft is provided with a pipe system for delivering antifriction and plugging compositions to its external surface. The method of the invention includes steps of extraction of rock in the shaft hollow, sinking the shaft under the action of its weight, and sinking the outer shell. As the resistance to the shaft and the shell sinking increases, some of the panels of the outer shell are freed of fixation, the shaft sinks with other, still fixed on it, panels. Then the next forced sinking of panels freed of fixation is performed until resting on the projection of the cutter section. To provide for optimal static working of the shaft, panels disposed symmetrically around one or two axes of symmetry are freed of fixation simultaneously. The forced sinking of panels freed of fixation is effected by static loading, by jacks, or by vibratory pile driver. EFFECT: increased efficiency of construction. 6 cl, 9 dwg
