FIELD: nuclear power plant deactivation treatment. SUBSTANCE: for treatment of stainless steel surfaces, there is used pickling composition containing 8-14 % by weight of hydroxyethyl cellulose, 15-18 % by weight of hydrofluoric acid, 24-33 % by weight of nitric acid and water for the balance. The composition is allowed to contact with the treated surface for 10-18 hrs followed by removal of hardened composition and the products of its reaction with oxide film by conventional methods. EFFECT: allows one to remove completely high-temperature oxide films 4.6-20 microns in thickness from stainless steel surfaces. 4 tbl
