SUBSTANCE: gas to be scrubbed is admitted to external surfaces of hollow fibres 2 via openings 20 through porous disc 15 to flow between hollow fibres 2 and enter disc 14. Gas further flow through radial passages 11 to enter axial passage 12 to open valve. Contaminants are diffused through walls of hollow fibres 2 into central passages from which these are blown out by scavenging gas introduced in portions from enclosure into which decontaminated gas is routed.
