FIELD: testing of deformed material. SUBSTANCE: wire (rivet) sample with length used for formation of point of rivet is tested in unit under shop conditions. Sample is subjected to effect of axial force with degree of deformation equalling that experienced in riveting under shop conditions. Method includes determination of occurring stress which together with critical and working degree of deformation serves as criterion of material rivetability in shop riveting in given unit. Stress is determined by formula given in invention description. Used for test may be sample with groove having radius equalling 0.01-0.05 do (notch type) running over surface parallel to axis of wire (rivet). EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 2 tbl
