SHIP HATCH CLOSURE Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: hatch closure has cavity 2 with vertical guides 4 and cover plate 6 of the hatch with wedge surfaces 7 engageable with wedges at coamings 15 of the hatch connected to deck by hinges 40 having rope winches with drives whose ropes are passed through pulleys 20 at the diametrical plane of ship 1 provided with lateral inclined joints 17 between coamings 15 of starboard and port side. Coamings 15 are pivotally connected to rods of telescoping hydraulic cylinders 23 extending through elastic sealing membranes in deck 25 and linked with lateral coamings 27. When it is necessary to open the hatch, rods are moved to bring wedged grips out of brackets 33 under deck 25 to thereby release coamings 15 carrying double-action hydraulic cylinders. These cylinders act to move wedged surfaces 7 from wedges and coamings 15 with cover plate 6 are raised to vertical position by hydraulic cylinders. Winch lowers cover plate 6 of hatch to cavity 2 closable by cover plate 3, whereas coamings 15 are lowered to deck 25 wherethrough brackets 33 extend to be locked by grips. Cover plate 6 closes the hatch in the reverse order. All joints are provided with elastic sealing spacer members. EFFECT: improved design, greater convenience in use. 10 dwg
