FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: prior to hydrometallurgical treatment, the tungsten-containing raw material having 20-30 % SiO2 and 12-20 % CaO is smelted under reducing conditions in the presence of carbon, heated to a temperature of 1460-1550 C and kept at this temperature till iron, manganese, tungsten and scandium are fully reduced and the resultant slag is separated.
