FIELD: machine building and other industries. SUBSTANCE: the composition comprises (wt %): 33.0-35.4 chromium oxide; 12.0-12.6 aluminium; 2.0-3.0 ammonium chloride; 50.0-52.0 a spent alumocopperchromium catalyst, the ratio of the basic components being as follows (wt %): 4.5 chromium oxide; 6 copper oxide; and aluminium, the balance. The chrome-plating composition is prepared by stirring all the components with the spent alumocopperchromium catalyst which is first communicated to a particle size of 0.1-0.2 mm and then calcined at 800-1000 C for 2-2.5 hr in the air. When treated with the claimed composition, various tools and parts show greater wear- and corrosion resistance. EFFECT: improved properties of the composition. 3 cl
