FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method of applying diffusive coating on steel billets of coins with carbon contents less, than 0.25% consists in charging billets of coins and chrome-plating composition into reactor; said composition contains granules of ferrochromium, activator and fire resistant thinner; further, method consists in heating chrome-plating composition for producing chrome-plating vapour, which precipitates on coins billets; finally coin billets are removed from reactor. The reactor rotates at rate of 0.5-50 rev/min. Method of fabrication of coins additionally consists in coining chrome-plated billets to produce relief image on one or both sides of a coin.
EFFECT: fabrication of elastic, uniform chrome-plated coating not varying in thickness.
