FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: horizon scanner has optically mated inlet and outlet flat-convex lenses with field-stop aperture, and radiation detector secured to external surface of outlet lens and connected with computer of angular deviation. Optical radiation of the Earth is collected by inlet flat-convex lens, passes through aperture and is projected on surface of radiation detector by outlet flat-convex lens. Deviation of axis of sight of instrument from direction of local vertical causes shifting of image on radiation detector surface. According to value of image shift, computer of angular deviation has direction and value of angle of deviation of sight axis. EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination of angular deviation of axis of sight due to exclusion of movable members of servo system, and, hence, of errors introduced by those system, and by application of optical system in form of wide-angle objective lens with radiation detector secured to external surface of outlet lens. 1 dwg
