FIELD: acoustic measurements; applicable, in determination of sound velocity, particular, in water in hydrological investigations of ocean. SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of Doppler frequency shift and correlation delay. The latter is determined as sum whose first component equals delay autocorrelation delay registered at equality of coefficients of auto and mutual correlation and second component equals value of additional regulated delay for the envelope of echo signal of receiver first in motion. Value of additional delay is selected so that the value of coefficient of correlation function is within 0.3-0.7 of maximum value. EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement. 3 dwg
