FIELD: oil refining. SUBSTANCE: emulsion is fed by two flow streams into settling tank having water zone, oil zone and intermediate emulsion layer zone, with one emulsion stream directed into water zone and another - to oil zone. The increase or decrease in viscosity of the intermediate emulsion layer results to the increased or decreased flow rate of the emulsion passed into water zone.
