FIELD: investigating mechanical properties of materials. SUBSTANCE: method involves the steps of: providing specimen 1 to be tested with polished face 2, deforming the specimen in a loading mechanism which is made in the form of a press with movable 3 and stationary 4 plates, placing mirror 5 on surface 6 of movable plate 3 facing stationary plate 4, illuminating mirror 3 and polished face 2 of specimen 1 by laser radiation from laser 7, obtaining fringe patterns with the aid of double-beam interferometers 8 and 9 in working arms of which mirror 5 and mirror-polished face 2 of specimen 1 are respectively disposed, recording deformation and determining elasticity modulus and Poissone coefficient by counting the number of interference fringes. Polished surface 6 of movable plate 3 can be used as mirror 5. EFFECT: simplified method in determining elastic constants of low-plastic materials. 2 cl, 1 dwg
