FIELD: welding; joining of workpieces made of heterogeneous plastic metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: two workpieces of heterogeneous plastic metals or alloys are put together with overlapping and subjected to one-side deformation by means of punch. Working head of punch is made with height 5 - 10% less than minimum height required for welding and bearing surface of punch is made of width not less than 1.5 of width of its working head. Welding is carried out from side of softer metal workpiece in two successive steps. During first step punch is forced into workpieces to joint its bearing surface with surface of softer workpiece, and during second step force is increased to value 1.5-fold greater than minimum force required for welding, and punch is driven into workpieces to provide minimum deformation required for welding. Method guaranteed hermetic weld seam in cases when deformation cannot be carried out from side of more hard metal. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 1 dwg
