FIELD: petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: the process comprises oxidizing petroleum tar in the presence of a product of oligomerization of heavy resin resulting from the pyrolysis of gaseous and/or liquid hydrocarbon stock in an amount of 1-5% of the weight of tar. The product has a molecular weight of 550-750, an iodine number of 45 and 7 g of iodine per 100 g of the product. EFFECT: improved properties of the bitumen. 3 tbl
