FIELD: manufacture of turbines. SUBSTANCE: during operation of the stage, working medium is swirled circumferentially due to presence of forces of viscosity acting both inside the working medium in chamber 10 and on side of revolving disk 3. Under action of centrifugal forces, the working medium partially flows to external diameter of disk 3. This flow Gb is braked by visor 6; then it flows together with diaphragm leakage flow Gg through hole 9 (when disk 3 is not provided with unloading passages) and enters unloading passages 7 where from it is thrown to the stage through outlet holes 8, thus excluding penetration into the flow section and impairment of the stage efficiency. If stage has negative or zero degree of reactivity, inclination of unloading passages 7 (D2>D1) creates centrifugal forces which intensify evacuation of the flow from chamber 10 beyond the stage.
