FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention can find use in drives of traction machines. A.C. electric motor drive has two synchronous machines 1, 2 provided with L-phased controlled rectifier 3 connected with output to single-phase winding of rotor of synchronous machine 1. Rotor winding of synchronous machine 2 is coupled to D.C. power supply source 4. Rotors of machines are shifted by 90 electrical degrees and their stator windings are phase connected in series through triacs 5-7. EFFECT: simplified design of drive, expanded range of control over its rotational speed. 5 dwg
