FIELD: ultrasonic flaw detection. SUBSTANCE: method provides for creation of ultrasonic beam by means of electroacoustic converter, focusing of this beam by means of acoustic focusing facilities and introducing of it into article under test at simultaneous scanning of the article. Beam reflected from the article under test is received by electroacoustic converter. In the course of focusing, ultrasonic beams, both introduced and reflected, are subjected to diaphragming. Device is provided with electroacoustic converter, first and second controlled acoustic lenses made of liquid crystals and diaphragm. Both lenses and diaphragm are assembled into the object and space between electroacoustic converters and articles under test is filled with immersion oil. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
