FIELD: metal pressure forming. SUBSTANCE: method of breaking rolled stock comprises steps of loading the rolled stock with head of it in a plane of bending load up to a time moment, when the load achieves a value, necessary for breaking the material of the rod, being broken. Using of such method of breaking a rolled stock with the head, being removed, allows to decrease the load and to eliminate a slope of blank ends, to lower shrinkage cavities, crumpling and other defects, providing cropless forging operations.
