FIELD: machine-tool industry. SUBSTANCE: gear shaper comprises longitudinal table supporting an indexing table with a counter secured on its indexing pair. The plunge-cutting drive of the longitudinal table has high-speed traverse hydraulic cylinder and plunge-cutting hydraulic cylinder, both controlled by reversible slide valves. Operating cycle of machine tool is set by stops and a device for shaping the signal controlling the number of passes which make necessary switchings in control circuit which comprises three gates, five flip-flops, four AND elements, two NOT elements and two OR elements. The device for shaping the signal controlling the number of passes has two control units. The first unit has electromechanical gate opening the fourth AND element at idle stroke of gear shaper cutter. The second unit has strain-gage bridge whose strain gages are secured on indexing table. The latter registers the time of jamming development and transmits the analog signal of the moment of force of said jamming into control circuit through the fourth AND element to discontinue the next plunge-cutting pass.
