FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: pentacyclotetradecane is prepared by destructive hydrogenation of heptacyclotetradecane (C14H16-binor-c) in the presence of platinum catalyst at 80-120 C under pressure 0.1-2.0 MPa, in the medium of solvent using as a catalyst - platinum applied on the activated carbon (5-25%) at the mass ratio of platinum to heptacyclotetradecane 1:(16.4-41). Solvent: 1.2-9.6% solution of hydrochloric acid. Method is used for diamanthane synthesis. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 1 tbl, 3 dwg
