FIELD: data processing and measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method for determining harmonic signal period involves the use of statistical standard to evaluate harmonic signal period, discrimination and current averaging of n time spaces Δti base and peak clipped by typical time moments reliably characterizing statistical data on boundaries of time spaces and by duration close or equal to harmonic signal period; standardized self-correlation function of signal under test is used as statistical standard for evaluation of period; harmonic signal sampling frequency is selected to be 1,8·101- 3,6·103 times higher than fundamental frequency; harmonic signal is sampled by periodic sequence of pair of short pulses; peak value of sampled pairs is measured and average value of signal and current values of standardized self-correlation function are determined; considering values obtained, next current value is determined; iteration measurement procedure is repeated in the same manner N times until desired measurement accuracy is attained.
