FIELD: highway engineering. SUBSTANCE: device for compaction of road-building materials has base chassis connected with compacting supporting plate 2 with pressing and holding down strips, member 5 installed on plate 2 and turnable in vertical plane, and vibration exciter. Secured to front end 7 of member 5 is ramming bar 8, and attached to rear end 9 are rests 10 contacting the pressing strip. Member 5 is installed on axles 11 in supporting brackets 12 of body 13 of plate 2. Member 5 is capable of turning in vertical plane round axle 11 under action of vibration exciter. Member 5 has adjustable rest 18 interacting with plate 2 through flexible weight 19. Pressing strip has body 20 secured to which are knife 21, stopping pads 22 and bosses 23 interacting with plate 2 and hold-down strip 4 through flexible members 24. Flexible member 24 includes pressing cup movably attached to rod by means of blocks, compression spring, supporting cup and adjusting nuts. Rod is secured to body 13 of plate 2 or to cover plate 36 of hold-down strip 4. The latter is secured to plate 2 by means of shackle 37 hinged to body 13 and cover plate 36.
