FIELD: electric drives of electric rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: device has first thyristor converter 1, with first traction motor 2 connected to thyristor converter output, field weakening setter 3, power controller position setter 4, first NOT gate 5, first NAND gate 6, power controller 7, and first current control unit 8. Unit 8 has current sensor 9 whose input forms first input of first unit 8, and output is connected to some of outputs of first comparator unit 10 and first inversion unit 11. Other input of first inversion unit 11 is connected to output of first comparator unit 10, and output, to first input of first gang switch 12. Unit 8 has also pulse generator 13, pulse shapers 14-18, brake setter 19, first flip-flop 20, second NOT gate 21, and AND gates 22-24. First input of first current control unit 8 is placed in winding circuit of first traction motor 1. Device has also second thyristor converter 25 with second traction motor 26 connected to converter output, condition matching unit 27, controller control unit 28, first OR gate 29, pulse shapers 42-45 and second current control unit 30 identical to first current control unit. Introduced additionally into each current control unit is second gang switch 31 identical to first gang switch, second comparator unit 32, second inversion unit 33, initial condition setting unit 34, setting shaper unit 35, three NAND gates 36-38 and pulse shapers 39-41.
