DEVICE FOR MEASURING PROFILE OF RAIL VEHICLE WHEEL Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: device has housing with cutout 2 for flange of wheel 19 to be checked, spring-loaded feeler gauges 3 and 4 engaging with wheel flange and wheel tread surface, respectively, and measuring unit consisting of indicator 14, DC current source and two rheostats. Sliding contact of each rheostat is rigidly connected with corresponding feeler gauge 3 or 4. Unit has also amplifier, analog-to-digital converter and spring-loaded contacts 10 and 11 for engagement with vertical surface of wheel flange placed in series with circuit between DC current source and indicator 14. Amplifier output is connected to first input of analog-to-digital converter. Sliding contacts of rheostats are placed in circuit between amplifier output and first input of converter whose output is connected to indicator. Second input of converter is connected to input of amplifier connected to plus terminal of DC current source and through switch, to rheostats. EFFECT: enhanced quality of repair. 4 dwg
