MAGNETIC SYSTEM TO CONFINE PLASMA IN RESONANCE ION SOURCE OF CYCLOTRON Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2030002 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: magnetic system presents prism with n-faced internal hole, it is composed of n-pole sections 1 of prism rectangular in cross-section and n-interpole sections 2 of triangle shape in cross-section and two mosaic rings 3 placed coaxially on butts of cylinder having internal hole matching n-faced internal hole of cylinder and having outer diameter not exceeding that of cylinder. Pole sections are magnetized radially with alternating polarity and interpole sections are magnetized tangentially with alternating polarity. Pole of each pole section directed to axis of cylinder matches like pole of interpole sections bordering on its faces. Each mosaic ring incorporated 3n high-coercive permanent magnets n of which has rectangular section and are put correspondingly on pole sections and 2n - have triangular section and are placed by two between n rectangular sections. In this case each of sections of mosaic rings is magnetized at angle of 45 deg to magnetization axis of corresponding section of magnetic system so that projection of magnetization vector of each section of ring on to magnetization axis of matching section of magnetic system coincides with it in direction. Mosaic rings are installed in ledges made in face parts of magnetic system following shape of rings. EFFECT: enhanced operational characteristics and reliability. 1 dwg
