FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves cleaning of gases from nitrogen and sulfur oxides by treating them with an aqueous solution of mixture of polythionic acids or their salts of alkaline metals in an absorber, discharging cleaned gas and resulting elementary nitrogen, directing washing solution with absorbed sulfur oxide for electrochemical regeneration into a cathode chamber of a two-chamber electrolyzer comprising an anion-exchange membrane, delivering water into an anode chamber and discharging sulfuric acid therefrom at a current density of A/cm2 followed by returning the regenerated washing solution to the gas washing stage into the absorber. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 1 dwg
