FIELD: gas treatment.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises preparing alkali metal hydroxide solution from initial alkali metal sulfates, contacting gas with alkali metal hydroxide solution to form saturated alkali metal hydroxide solution, and regeneration thereof. More specifically, initial 10-15% alkali metal sulfate solution is introduced into anode and cathode chambers of diaphragm electrolyzer having microporous diaphragm of zirconium oxide-based ceramics or the same with aluminum and yttrium oxide additives. In this case, alkali metal hydroxide solution obtained in cathode chamber is brought into contact with gas, while acid solution obtained in anode chamber is used for regeneration of saturated alkali metal hydroxide solution.
EFFECT: increased purification degree and reduced power consumption.
