INFLUENZA B VIRUS STRAIN 151/91 FOR MAKING DIAGNOSTICS Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: strain is a variant of virus B strain 16/88. The strain, isolated from a human-being, is reproduced in the chick embryo system at 35°C to infection titer 6.5 lgЭИД₅₀/0.2, the hemagglutination titer is 1:320. In the state collection of viruses the strain is numbered 2294. The strain shows a narrow range of agglutination of red blood cells of different animal species. It agglutinates well human and chick red blood cells and, in lower titers, red blood cells of pigs and guinea pigs. It does nor react with red blood cells of sheep, mice, and rabbits. The strain has thermostable hemagglutinin withstanding temperatures up to 56°C for 4 h. The strain has antigenic components in common with the reference virus (16/88), and it also has a peculiar antigenic component characterizing its specificity. The strain is applicable in the production of diagnostics intended for identification of isolated influenza viruses and detection of antibodies. EFFECT: higher quality of diagnostics. 3 tbl
