FIELD: power engineering. SUBSTANCE: power plant has compressor connected with an electric motor and compressed gas accumulator connected to an expanding machine through a pipe line. The expanding machine is connected with a power generator and consists of at least two same units. Rods of the units connect armatures of a linear generator with pistons. An exciting system comprises coils and magnetic conductor whose parts are made in block with electrodes. Spaces of two units are interconnected through synchronizing passages. In operation of the power plant, energy of compressed gas is converted to mechanical work in the piston machine and the generator converts the mechanical work to electric power.
