FIELD: automatics, relay protection. SUBSTANCE: method can find use in distance protection. It is based on demarcation of 120 deg angular zones referenced to reverse current where vector of zero sequence current can get. Problem is solved by minimal number of multiplication operations. For this purpose reactive powers of signals proportional to reverse and zero sequence currents are found and further operations are carried out with reactive powers - substance signals. Simplification is obtained as phase shifts are replaced by summing up of reactive powers and angular zones are detected by analysis of signs of summary reactive powers.
