FIELD: lighting engineering. SUBSTANCE: use of ballast chokes in the capacity of pulse step-up transformers makes it possible to use one initiating device with momentary stopping of generation of high-voltage initiating pulses when lighting gaseous-discharge high-pressure lamps. Simplicity, high reliability of initiation with capability of instantaneous stopping of generation of pulses when lighting lamps and of de-energizing of initiating device under emergency condition makes it possible to use invention in lighting equipment with gaseous-discharge high-pressure lamps.
