FIELD: foundry practice. SUBSTANCE: water on the withdrawal station 7 is metered by unit 11 for maintaining correct moisture content in molding sand which returns to molding station 1 and which can be mixed with new molding sand, new binder and/or new addition at the mixture processing station 8. Water and other components are metered by an automatic control system (units 24, 25, 19) in response to the information received from withdrawal station 7 and concerning the condition of individual casting molds arriving at the withdrawal station particularly with respect to whether they are or are not filled with metal which is an important factor in the moisture content.
