FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: roof of electric-arc melting furnace is assembled on a templet from refractory materials so that the masonry of the peripheral circular zone joining a water-cooled roof ring consists of a layer of refractory materials in the form of four circular segments interconnected by four circular sectors forming, together, a peripheral circular zone around a support device where the relation of the total area of refractory roof masonry F in the form of a ball segment to the central zone F1 ,, F F: F1= 1,5:1,8 . 1.5:1.8. The peripheral circular zone of the refractory masonry adjoining the water-cooled support ring is made of a refractory material heat-resistant within a temperature interval of 300-700 C, for example, fireclay. To reduce pressure in the central part and thermal expansion of refractories, the fireclay masonry is separated from dinas masonry by a double damping layer of high-refractory silica fabric KC-II-LA 2-3 mm thick over the perimeter of an octagon described around the central part of the roof F1, the central octahedral zone is made of dinas and the entire refractory masonry of the roof is made in bond. EFFECT: improved design. 2 dwg
