FIELD: meat industry. SUBSTANCE: method for removal of hide or skin from animal carcasses involves conveyor transportation of carcasses suspended by four extremities in a horizontal position through the clearing zone and the zone with the mechanism for skinning the carcasses moving on the conveyor. The conveyor carries several carcasses at a time. The rearward-directed animal extremities are braked on the inlet portion of the conveyor for stretching the carcass and the carcasses are conveyed in the stretched state, maintaining a constant distance between the suspended points of the front and rear extremities. The hide-removing mechanism in the operating position is kept immovable under the back of the carcass and the hide is removed from the continuously moving carcasses.
