DEVICE FOR COOLING ARTICLES Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

Abstract RU 2039093 C1

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: device for cooling articles has a coolant chamber and compressed air chamber connected through passages to a cavity for production gas/fluid flow. Any passage for air feed is made in the form of a cylinder with conical outlet; any passage for coolant feed is made in the form of tube coaxial about the cylinder, with through apertures made in tube wall along its length being slope about tube axis and directed toward tube outlet. The device is provided with at least one extension piece for feeding coolant installed on the end of proper tube, and at least one gas/fluid flow former installed on a proper cylinder. In so doing, lower part of any extension is made conical to generate a nozzle for gas/fluid flow. Each gas/fluid flow former has conical portion. This portion together with external surface of conical outlet part of the cylinder form an additional nozzle becoming additional cavity to generate high dispersion gas/fluid flow. In so doing, any extension and any cylinder have slope through apertures connecting proper coolant feed passage with gas/flow nozzle in the area of cylinder cone, and cylinder cavity to additional nozzle in the area of former cone. Former outlet is extended. Each coolant feed extension part is suitable for controllable axial displacement up to complete overlapping apertures in coolant feed extension with coolant feed tube wall. Each coolant feed passage has conical outlet. Each gas/fluid flow former is suitable for controllable axial displacement apertures communicating cylinder cavity to additional nozzle with former wall. EFFECT: cooling railway rails with coolant of wide relation range between coolant and compressed air in cooling flow. 4 cl, 2 dwg
