FIELD: data storage. SUBSTANCE: during recording, in[put data are sequentially entered in storage at one transmission speed and read out at other, higher speed for recording on record medium. Storage is read out so that data in preset quantity is sequentially read out so as to always afford storage area for records, its capacity being greater than predetermined second quantity when quantity of input data saved in storage exceeds first quantity. During reproduction, reproduced data are read out at second speed of transmission required to transfer reproduced data and they are entered in storage. Data recorded in this way are sequentially read out of storage as data reproduced at first transmission speed. Process of reproduced data recording in storage is controlled so that second quantity of reproduced data is entered in storage and quantity of reproduced data not less than first quantity is always reproduced in storage when quantity of reproduced data saved in storage is not greater than first preset quantity.
