Information carrier is driven with constant linear speed for writing and optical reading of information. Reading- writing device which uses disk information carrier has buffer memory unit which is connected between data compression unit for compression of input digital data and unit for encoding and modulation of compressed data during writing and between unit for decoding with error correction and demodulation and expanding unit for data expansion during reading. Appropriate size of buffer memory unit provides possibility of satisfactory writing and reading even if writing and reading heads lose track during writing and reading due to vibration.
