FIELD: production of synthesis gas. SUBSTANCE: liquid hydrocarbon-containing fuel is subjected to incomplete oxidation in the presence of oxygen. Oxygen and fuel are supplied to oxidation zone in four flows: one flow through central channel and three concentric channels of burner. Supplied to the second concentric channel is fuel having specific gravity at 15 C of 980-1018 kg/cu.m and viscosity at channel outlet of 0.02-0.2 Pa s with flow rate of 3.0-3.8 m/s, and oxygen is fed to central, first and third concentric channels at flow rates of 60-120, 21-42 and 60-120 m/s, respectively.
