FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves unearthing the tubers by a harvesting unit moving along a bed 3 in the direction of arrow A, separating the soil, removing the plant tops, and bunkering. Tubers are unloaded from the hopper into transverse heaps 4. For this purpose the hopper 2 is emptied from tubers on each subsequent longitudinal row 3 abreast of the heaps 4 of the preceding row. Picking of tubers by hand is carried along the heaps in the direction of arrow (B-B) simultaneously while machine picking along arrows C, successively on each heap. Hand picking is performed concurrently with unearthing from one or two sides of the field while machine picking, after unearthing the tubers from the entire field.
