FIELD: ferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves double-layer charging of burden; sintering at high temperatures; discharging sintered product and grinding of sintered material. Double-layer charging and sintering of burden involves sprinkling molds with milk of lime; charging unburned iron ore pellets with returns and mixture of calcium-bearing flux and hematite ore into molds, with chemical composition of mixture corresponding to eutectic in the system of CaO-Fe2O3 or CaO-Fe2O3-SiO2, with ratio of mixture layer height to total height of layer to be sintered being within the range of 0.1-0.3:1; complete melting of mixture layer by means of concentrated energy source. Eutectic-composition melt obtained flows down to fill pores between iron ore pellets and return particles and provides impregnation and liquid-phase sintering of pellets and particles. Conveyorized machine has conveyor with molds and tensioner drive, sprinkler for sprinkling molds with milk of lime and discharge mechanism. Conveyor with molds is provided with feeders positioned in succession above conveyor and adapted for laying mixture of calcium-bearing flux and hematite ore and concentrated energy source. EFFECT: improved ecological conditions by conducting sintering without suction of gases through layer subject to sintering and without usage of drafting means and by complete withdrawal of solid fuel from burden. 3 cl, 2 dwg
