FIELD: road vehicles. SUBSTANCE: bicycle has frame with front steerable wheel and rear driving wheel connected by flexible transmission with pedal drive. Pedals reciprocate along hollow guides rigidly secured in lower part of frame and provided with sliders connected with pedals through slots in guides. Sliders are coupled by flexible drive passing along upper and lower coupling sheaves. Each pedal is coupled respectively with driving sheave of rear wheel by means of flexible transmission passing over upper driving and lower return sheaves. Driving sheaves are fitted on axle at both sides of hub. Bushings of right-hand and left-hand driving sheaves are connected with rear wheel hub bushing by tightly fitted on cylindrical torsion springs. Coils of right-hand spring are wound counter-clock-wisely and those of left-hand spring, clockwise. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and convenience of riding owing to reciprocative motion of pedals instead of rotation of pedals. 7 dwg
