FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves bromination with brominating agent (industrial waste of benzophenone production, in part, sewage of 2,4-dialkylbenzophenone production, i. e. aqueous solution of sodium bromide with sodium hydroxide contaminant, pH is 9-9.2) of corresponding alcohols in the presence of sulfuric acid at reaction mass boiling. Synthesized compounds have: yield, wt.-% radical for compounds a-e; b. p. C (at pressure, mm mercury column); specific gravity and/or refraction coefficient: a) 93; methyl; 38-39 (760); 1.4241; b) 92; ethyl; 71-72 (760); 1.4350; c) 90; n-butyl; 129-130 (760); 1.4449; d) 92; n-heptyl; 82 (12); 1.1132; 1.4520; e) 90; (-CH2CH-); 70-72 (760); 1.3985; 1.4662. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis.
