Alkylphthalates of polyhydroxyalkylenephthalyllactames were prepared by drying a mixture of organic solvent and polyhydroxyalkylene polyol and interaction of dried mixture with lactam and phthalic acid dichloroanhydride in the presence of hydrogen chloride acceptor. Monofunctional alcohol of the formula ROH is added additionally to the reaction mixture where R alkyl containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms at equivalent ratio of lactam and monofunctional alcohol from 0.2:1 to 1:1.
